 TRY THE UNIQUE EXPERIENCES -  FAMOUS MADEIRA´S LEVADAS

An easy way to see the Laurissilva Madeira Forest is to go to Ribeiro Frio, a place slotted into a narrow valley. It is worth walking to "BALCÕES" from here – a short and easy 30 minutes walk that will give you a taste of Madeira’s famous levadas. Normally the levadas cover great distances, some taking a whole day to walk, but "Balcões" offers a short version of the kind of landscape to be found along the way without having to trudge hundreds of kilometres along these waterways wich were vital for transporting water in Madeira.

They were used to channel water from the heights, and above all from the North Coast of the Island, and take it to the South were most of the Population and agricultural land were concentrated.

Today  the  Famous levadas are very well preserved as walking paths.

It is what we would call as a Natural Relaxing Exercise, where you encounter directly with Mother Nature.

 Levada do Caldeirão Verde  or the Levada do Norte are wonderfull levadas that  you should experiment.

A day in the Levada´s will be a lifetime experience.

 There are Hundred´s of trails thre the Levada´s in our Island, which to trully discover all of them, would clearly take years.

 Scuba -Diving in Madeira´s Clean Atlântic Ocean

Firstly Madeira´s Ocean is famous for it´s fantastic water temperatures, it is possible to swim in the Ocean all year round.

the Diving  experience usually takes place on a seabed which has a wide array of types and shapes of rocks. Really worthwhile.

Walking in Funchal Flower city

One of the most promoted and sought after activities in Madeira Island.

Walking in Funchal at any time of the day and night is just wonderfull, due to our gentle population, you will feel at Home right from the first steps. Funchal provides what many other cities in the worlf just cannot provide. A Big and at the same time small City, offers all populations and visitors walking distances in the city. A relaxing coffee  in our Promenades, or a meal in our local Restaurants Splanades are just incredible experiences. In a 500 year old city, you will find many activities such as culture,sight seeing, shopping or just visiting our local Fish and Flower  Market.

There are many in Madeira Island, but two are particularly geared towards visitors.

One very famous connects  Avenida do Mar (Centre of the  Funchal City) until our City Mountain named Monte. In Monte you may have a visit to the beautiful  Historical gardens of local Flowers. A lunch can be very appreciated in this small village, with a local wine.

 The other Cable Car connects our Botanical Garden which is located in the Babosas, to this small village Monte. It is a real flying experience over the Mountains.

An alternative and exciting way of coming down from Monte Village to Funchal city center.  One of Madeira icon’s.

The only place in the world with this form of transport. The Traditional Sliding cars, are pushed by to strong men, which ensure your safety.
